A Place to B(z) is a citizens' initiative for placemaking in Bolzano, born from a collaboration between students of the Free University of Bolzano and LIA within the "Project 2" semester course of the Eco-Social Design master programme. The initiative aims to open up the area behind the train station as a shared space for independent culture and citizen-driven projects, shaped together with the city's residents. Associations, initiatives and local actors find here a place to meet and collaborate.

We at LIA have supported the project ever since on a voluntary basis, with professional advice and planning input. Our involvement carries no commercial interest. We share what the initiative stands for: more accessible public spaces, real participation, and a contribution towards a more vibrant and inclusive Bolzano.

During Bolzano Art Week 2023 we opened the area once more and created a vibrant lineup of concerts, talks, poetry, performances, engaging workshops, fun games, delicious food and drinks, ice cream, art, clothing swaps, flea markets, and so much more.
