Are you passionate about ecosystems, biodiversity and nature-based design – and eager to help elevate SLA’s international projects with high-performing new nature? Then you might be the colleague we are looking for.
The role
As an International Planting Designer, you will develop plant strategies and concepts for projects across our global markets. You will navigate the complex interplay between biodiversity, plant communities, ecosystem services, and the aesthetic sense of nature – with designing specific habitats and planting systems as part of the nature-based design.
About the team and culture
You will become part of our international market and a cross-office professional community for planting designers with core expertise in nature-based planting design, implementation, and long-term maintenance. You will work closely with the project manager and the interdisciplinary colleagues on various projects: biologists, architects, landscape architects, and lighting designers. And together with clients, landscapers, gardeners, and nurseries, you will facilitate how the nature-based design will be realized.
What we offer you
→ Participation in interdisciplinary design processes, including workshops, competitions, master plans, biodiversity strategies, and urban development projects
→ Strengthen your expertise in planting design across diverse climate zones while contributing to high-impact international projects
→ The opportunity to take a leading role in shaping planting design thinking on complex, high-profile projects—where your expertise directly influences quality of life and biodiversity impact
→ Working at the forefront of nature-based design
→ A structured and well-defined onboarding program, offering strong professional sparring, mentoring, and support to ensure a smooth transition and continuous development
Your education and professional experience
We expect that you hold a Master of Science degree in the field of landscape architecture, nature & environmental management, urban landscape engineering, or a related field from institutions such as the University of Copenhagen, Wageningen University, Lund University, Uppsala University, or similar.
We value at least 3 years of relevant professional experience across various project phases. Experience from diverse climate zones is a strong advantage, and practical, hands-on training is highly valued.
How do you apply?
