To return to the city what was once taken from it—that is the starting point of this project. Schenoni is not simply a residential quarter; it is a new piece of city. For Milland and Brixen, this formerly inaccessible area transforms into a place where open spaces, pathways, and diverse building typologies come together to form an authentic urban fabric.
The southern entrance is the key. With the realignment of St. Josef Street, a more natural connection to the Mozartallee roundabout is created, giving rise to a new urban threshold: Millander Square. Three elements define its character: the Casa Alta, a vertical landmark; the existing command building, reimagined to foster communal life and social interaction; and the Mobility–Sport Hub, a sustainable infrastructure combining parking, sports, and green space.
Moving inward, the logic of the existing site guides the design. Mature trees, the command building, and established uses such as the REXX are treated as assets: preserved and seamlessly integrated into the new urban fabric. Surrounding the central green space, new buildings with varied housing types and active ground floors create a vibrant, human-scale urbanity.
Urban life is generated from the ground up, through active uses, social encounters, and a careful mix of living and working. Further north, a city-alley typology unfolds, linking Pappel Square to a second, more intimate courtyard. A network of pathways connects the district with its surroundings, integrating it fully into the city.
